Mid-Facelift (malar lift)
The malar lift is a very effective supplementary procedure mainly performed in combination with a lower eyelid operation. Through an incision in the lid crease area, which slightly extends the crease outwards, the sagging fat tissue of the cheeks can be repositioned by raising it up onto the cheek bones. This also reduces the nasolabal fold considerably, giving the face a more youthful overall appearance. A combination mid-facelift and lower eyelid operation takes longer, but the healing phase is approximately the same, the difference being the occurrence of major hematomas and an outer scar area that is visible longer. The results do not compare to those achieved with a facelift, but it is a relatively minor surgical procedure considering the fabulously youthful look it produces.
