Costs
Generally, you will be given a cost estimate for the desired operation at your initial consultation. You may, however, also receive price information by phone prior to this. To avoid the burden of unexpected costs, it is important to always ask for the total price of the operation including charges for anaesthesia, hospital stay, staff assistance, etc. Health insurance does not cover the cost of aesthetic operations. However, in cases where surgery is indicated due to a medical problem, some insurances offer partial coverage. For purely aesthetic operations, VAT is added to the total price, which since 2003 is stipulated by law. Medically indicated surgeries are exempt from this tax.
