Cooling
Cooling is important and effective in reducing hematomas, pain and swelling following any operation. Immediate and frequent cooling of the areas is essential after surgery. In doing so, it is important to use cold packs which are not too cold, and not to cool any one area for too long a time. The application of cold packs should not cause any pain, and the suture line should not become moist or soften. We recommend buying blue-gel cold packs prior to surgery, which can be purchased at any pharmacy. With eyelidplasties, cooled teething rings also offer good relief, as they are usually the ideal size for cooling this area of the face.
